Reasons to bid

Ref. 6238 is normally referred to as pre-Daytona. We prefer to associate this Oyster Chronograph Anti-Magnetic with the brand’s earlier chronographs, mainly because of the very rare combination of a tachymeter scale and a blue telemeter scale, both graduated in miles. Chronographs with multiple scales were common from the 1930s to the 1950s, but this configuration is very rare. This only makes this timepiece even more attractive, as the reference 6238 is considered rare with an estimated total production of 2,000 to 2,500 pieces in the 1960s, which includes all dial and case variants.
