Reasons to bid

The history and legend of the Speedmaster chronographs are closely linked to the use of these watches by NASA on space missions and in particular on missions to the Moon. Omega has dedicated numerous commemorative editions to these pages of its history. This Speedmaster Professional ‘Snoopy Eyes on the Stars’ Ref. 3578.51.00, launched in 2003, is attractive not only as a Speedmaster with the traditional 1861 chronograph caliber, which is considered one of the best movements you can expect in a Speedmaster, but also because of the first appearance of Snoopy, NASA’s safety mascot, in the design. Here it can be seen on the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock, but also on the sapphire crystal of the caseback, in the illustration printed on the inside. A great collector’s edition of a watch that has remained technically almost unchanged since the 1960s.
