Reasons to bid

If we consider the legendary Longines watches, of which there are many in the archives of this great brand, then the Swissair 24-hour Pilot’s Watch Special Edition certainly takes pride of place. Special editions were common in the brand’s collection in the 20th century, even if not all of them were as brilliant as the ‘Swissair’. The 24-hour dial of this ‘Swissair’ watch makes it look like a military pocket chronometer with its matte black dial, minimalist Bauhaus markings (a decade before Max Bill’s design), traditional bronze ‘poire’ hour and minute hands and large (very large) 47mm size. The large (very large) spherical crown looks as if it came from a pocket watch. This watch will always stand out in the history of the brand as well as in a private collection.
