Reasons to bid

The 38 mm Breguet Classique Chronograph Ref. 5237 replaced the slightly more compact 35 mm Ref. 3237 in the early 2000s. Both are stunning hand-wound chronographs with a round Empire-style gold case, a signature silvered solid gold dial with a Clous de Paris guilloché motif and a classic Breguet caliber 533.2 (base Nouvelle Lémania 2320) with column wheel, lateral clutch and a hairspring with Breguet overcoil. In this chronograph, we find the embodiment of the style that Abraham-Louis Breguet, the founder of the brand, created for pocket watches more than two hundred years ago. So when we are talking about classic-style chronographs, the Breguet Ref. 5237 is one of the best choices. It should be noted that the rose gold Ref. 5237BR has a case and movement numbers which are close to the numbers of the Ref. 5237BB watch in white gold offered in this auction (Lot 26), so both watches left the manufacture at the same time.
