Reasons to bid

The Submariner Date Ref. 16800 is known as a ‘transitional reference’ because it combines features from earlier and later generations of the Rolex Submariner. It is a vintage watch that has the characteristics of modern watches and is therefore suitable both as a collector’s item and for everyday use. The Ref. 16800 Matte Dial belongs to the rare and highly prized first series of the reference production with a matte dial and indexes without a gold frame for the lumi, and with sapphire crystal instead of the acrylic crystal of the previous Ref. 1680. In addition, the Ref. 16800 was the first Submariner to offer water resistance of up to 300 meters.
