Reasons to bid

Vacheron Constantin generally prefers self-winding calibers for its perpetual calendars. Malte Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Ref. 47212/000P-9250 (limited edition of 50 pieces, launched in 2007) is a rare exception, which is all the more remarkable as the base caliber here is the Vacheron Constantin 1141, based on the respectable Nouvelle Lémania 2310, which has a very visually appealing chronograph mechanism. The layout of the chronograph includes a column wheel and a lateral clutch. All of this is complemented very appropriately by a hallmark of high-end watchmaking such as the hairspring with Breguet overcoil. This watch comes from the special Excellence Platinum line, which is primarily aimed at collectors. Therefore, we not only find a platinum case here, but also an exceptional platinum dial with a matt, grained texture and the ‘PT 950’ marking. An absolute bonus is the hand-engraved face of the Moon on the moonphase display disc.
