Reasons to bid

This Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Ref. 1803 ‘Portuguese Version’ is a very attractive combination of warm tones of 18k yellow gold and a gilt black ‘pie-pan’ dial, with all markings, hands and lettering in a matching golden color. Connoisseurs of this reference will certainly notice the interesting double-jointed indices at 6 and 9 o’clock, which are sometimes referred to as ‘door step markers’. Thanks to these features, the appearance of this Day-Date Ref. 1803 is almost contemporary. This is particularly attractive, as Rolex generally ignores the vintage trend in its modern collection. What gives the watch a special character is the Portuguese version of the calendar, in which we find numerical designations for the days of the week instead of the usual words.
