Reasons to Bid

This highly decorated and skeletonized pocket watch with perpetual calendar and enamel decoration, signed “Les Cabinotiers Genève”, captivates above all with its astonishing combination of a rare perpetual calendar module with a skeletonized and hand-engraved mechanism and a gold case that is also engraved with a floral motif under translucent blue enamel. Connoisseurs of complex mechanical pocket watches will be attracted by the unusual arrangement of the displays and the fascinating program disk of the perpetual calendar in the style of the Breguet Marie Antoinette watch with pins that determine the length of the month. This watch, and the calendar module in particular, undoubtedly have similarities with the pocket watches in the collection of the MAH Musée d’art et d’histoire, Ville de Genève, made in 1982 by the group Les Cabinotiers, which included independent craftsmen: Svend Andersen, Roger Dubuis, Ferrier Gilbert and others.
