Reasons to Bid

This Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 2526 in 18k rose gold, double signed “Freccero”, is very interesting and appealing for several reasons. In the history of Patek Philippe, we find this watch as an early reference with 12’’’600 AT, the brand’s first automatic movement, which was produced from 1953 and is now considered one of the most beautiful automatic movements ever. The Ref. 2526 also has a rare and valuable enamel dial with applied indexes in the style of the Reference 96, the first Calatrava. The screw-down 36 mm case houses the caliber 12’’’600 AT with an unusual fine adjustment system with flat swan-neck spring and spiral with Breguet overcoil, which definitely underlines the high technical mastery of this caliber. The guilloché rotor that drives the caliber 12’’’600 AT is perhaps the first in the history of watchmaking to be decorated with guilloche. It also bears the “PP” crest, which probably served as inspiration for the Patek Philippe seal which has replaced the Poinçon de Genève on all Patek Philippe watches since 2009. The “Freccero” retail partner mark further enhances the appeal of this watch.
