Reasons to Bid

A landmark creation from the independent manufacturer Urwerk, the UR-103.08 TiAlN marries avant-garde design, mechanical ingenuity and advanced material science. Released in 2007 as part of the UR-103 series, the Titanium-Aluminium-Nitride (TiAlN) coating rattled the market as a first for the model line and for horology in general. The case measures approximately 50 x 36mm and features a base in stainless steel and titanium coated with a TiAlN layer that boosts hardness significantly and produces a bronze-to-purple metallic hue. Time is indicated via four orbiting hour satellites traveling beneath an arc of minutes: a signature ‘wandering hours / satellite hour’ system that Urwerk helped popularize. On the caseback lies a ‘control board’ featuring a power-reserve indicator, small seconds and a 15-minute counter for precision setting. The movement of choice is the hand-wound Caliber 3.03 operating at 21,600 vph with approximately 43-hours of power reserve.
