Ineichen is pleased to present a thematic online watch auction, dedicated exclusively to timepieces by Breguet.
One of the greatest watchmakers of all time, Abraham Louis Breguet created a number of ingenious innovations including the tourbillon, an automatic winding system, the souscription, and the montre a tact, which earned him a Royal and aristocratic clientele across Europe.
The present sale features an exciting selection of quintessential Breguet pieces, which perfectly embody Abraham-Louis Breguet's vision with their exceptionally elegant, deeply traditional, understated refinement.
The sale represents a diversity of classical and complicated pieces, from the Classique Power Reserve Moon Phase to the Classique Chronograph and Classique Tourbillon, all featuring Breguet’s signature engine-turned dials, hand-finished and individually numbered.
Highlights in this sale include an extremely fine, rare, and important "Souscription” set No. 11 made up of two watches in 18K yellow gold; a minute repeating perpetual calendar wristwatch ref. 3430, and a large self-winding pocket watch ref. 1890, inspired by perpetuelle pocket watches that Abraham-Louis Breguet produced in the late 18th century. Released in 1991 in a limited series of 300 examples, the gorgeous Breguet “Souscription” set is packaged in an elaborate wooden presentation cabinet lined in silk jacquard fabric, and accompanied by nifty accessories like a gilded magnifying glass and a polishing stick.
