Costa Design Studio

Pedro Costa is the director of Costa Design Studio. A metal artisan who felt in love with the watch industry. He creates unique pieces of hand-made luxury.

Pedro Costa is passionate about creating timepieces that are not only functional but also works of art. He believes that a watch is not only a tool to tell the time, but also an expression of style and personality.

The team of skilled craftsmen and designers put their heart into every aspect of the process, from initial sketches to the final product while respecting the form and concept behind the joker.

They pay close attention to even the smallest details, ensuring that every aspect of the watch is crafted to perfection. The materials that are used are of the highest quality, from the metals to the finish of each piece.

The Joker Table

The project has a system distributed in three sections: each eye has operation to give hour and minute respectively, additionally the tongue has manual operation from one of the crowns.

This is why the initial proposal for the hour movement is a winding mechanism that has a power reserve of approximately 7 days. The mechanism is made with materials such as bronze and stainless steel with the particularity of displaying hours and minutes. The mechanism is designed and manufactured by a German watch company.

The mechanism is located in a preform, where the eyes are supported by two shafts (one for each eye) allowing the independence of the movement on the board and avoiding friction. The shafts in turn would be connected by means of toothed pulleys and belts to belts to the central axes of the mechanism to maintain the same mechanical relationship and thus match the hours and minutes at all times. This system will be subjected to stress and precision tests, which is why the eyes are as light as possible.

The configuration of the time and load of the mechanism originates in one of the two crowns. The right crown is set in 2 positions: the first by pulling and then rotating to set the time of the watch, the second is by pushing and then rotating to recharge the winding of the mechanism; finally, it is left in the neutral position to ensure correct operation.

The principle of operation for the tongue is proposed on the left crown by means of a transverse axis that locates at the point to which the user wishes, through a clockwise rotation to increase or counterclockwise to decrease.

For the positioning of the tongue, it is proposed to use an axis to place the tongue in the point that the user likes, this would go to the left crown, possibly by turning to the right to move forward or to the left to move backward, with these 2 movements the person would move the tongue to one side or the other.
