Reasons to Bid

This Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5040J is a rare and attractive tonneau-shaped wristwatch in yellow gold. The Ref. 5040 was produced in three series from 1992 to 2007, of which about 1,800 pieces were produced in yellow gold. This 5040J is an early example of the first series (before 1998) with a corresponding movement number in the 77x thousand range and a mini rotor with Côtes de Genève and 22K engravings without the Calatrava cross. The undoubtedly attractive features of this watch are the “sigma” dial with applied Breguet numerals in yellow gold (Ref. 5040 is the first Patek Philippe perpetual calendar with applied Breguet numerals) and the prestigious Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark that marks the caliber 240 Q. A great opportunity for connoisseurs of fine watches to acquire an early, rare and very distinctive Patek Philippe perpetual calendar wristwatch in a tonneau-shaped case.
